Accessibility

Accessibility at Stratford Hall

Stratford Hall strives to make its exhibits, programs, and facilities accessible to all visitors. Due to the historic period and age of many of our tour buildings and landscapes, some areas may not be fully accessible to all visitors.

Navigating the Great House and Historic Area

Pathways

In the historic area, there are brick and gravel paths. Both the brick and gravel paths vary in evenness. In inclement weather, the gravel path may become muddy, and the bricks can be slippery. There is an accessible pathway that leads from the Oval (large field in the Historic Area) to the restrooms and entrance of the Great House.

Great House

The ground floor of the Great House is wheelchair accessible. Please enter and exit using the Westside door. The East entrance requires steps. Stairs are required to access the upper floor. If anyone in your group is not able to or is not comfortable with visiting the second floor, they may wait on the first floor. Seating is available on the ground floor and upper floor. A virtual tour of the Great House (including all the rooms of the upper floor) is available to view during the visit. A Stratford Hall staff member will be stationed on the ground floor and upper floor for assistance.

In the Great House, ground floor guests will pass through brick and hardwood. On the upper floor, guests will pass through hardwood, canvased hallways, and carpet only in the Parlor room. Additionally, the Great House relies mostly on natural light for lighting. There are several floor lamps throughout the Great House.

Wheelchairs

There are two wheelchairs available to rent, free of charge in the Visitor Center. We have a portable mobility device ramp available. Please talk to a Stratford Hall staff member for assistance.

Golf Cart Service

Stratford Hall offers a complimentary golf cart service around site to all visitors. Please let a Stratford Hall staff member know if you would like to use this service.

Roads

As you drive throughout our site, you will experience uneven terrains. Please be careful when driving.
